No one cares that mamdani “lied” on his college application (1/n)
To those who hate him: this is a dumb criticism. There are good reasons why they think he’s a bad candidate, and if this is what they’re holding up, then it makes them look like they’re scraping the barrel and have no real arguments.
Crem, I strongly dislike Mamdani and think he is a potentially dangerous politician, but this isn’t professional misconduct.
I object to race data on forms, and either decline to provide it, check all the boxes, or check at random
To those who love him: it confirms the other side has no real arguments

Which makes this statement kind of funny. Did the NYT turn on him? I don’t think so. Crem approached them, they knew this was going to go out. Would you rather let someone else smear your candidate, or would you rather (1) do damage control by publishing it in the best possible light (2) get all the clicks & money from it

NYT person making a statement
Our reporters obtained information about Mr. Mamdani’s Columbia college application and went to the Mamdani campaign with it. When we hear anything of news value, we try to confirm it through direct sources. Mr. Mamdani confirmed this information in an interview with The Times.

The New York Times just reported on the story. Using the hacked data from Columbia, we found that Zohran Mamdani claimed to be Black when he applied to Columbia. Despite his fake race and the fact that he listed his father—a professor there—on his application, he was rejected. https://x.com/cremieuxrecueil/status/1940889142415839295
