🦞 Alex: Counter point! I told someone the truth, and they yelled at me & denied it!! They gave no rational reason & just bad arguments for it. The truth made them feel bad I guess so they rejected it. Why can’t humans just accept truth?

🧢 Defender: Wait, that doesn’t falsify it! Even in THAT case, that person WAS seeking truth!

🦞 Alex: Bro they literally denied it & blocked me

🧢 Defender: No no, it’s because they heard you saying something completely different. They did NOT hear truth.

You said ___________

They heard ___________

They THOUGHT you were saying something evil, because when you first started talking, they noticed you were on the opposite political side, and they assumed whatever comes out of your month would be === evil/bad

All Humans Seek Truth (2)

🦞 Alex: Well that’s a nice thought isn’t it? That all our problems are due to “not understanding” each other, and if ONLY we all learned more about each other, we’d live in harmony?

Yeah that’s so naive. It’s literally not true. You’re wrong

🧢 Defender: Wait I agree with you!! It is NOT true that 100% of our problems are due to not understanding, but SOME are. What % is it? 1%? 5%? 70%?

We don’t know. We haven’t made that experiment! But we can! We can go around doing “Anatomy of an Internet Argument” experiments. IF you find a success, you write about it. You’re doing research while simultaneously solving problems in society & delivering value. The research is funded by the correct predictions that it makes (which doubles as unfakeable peer review/testing of the theory)
