What does a mystic do in a research lab?
She talks to each researcher. She also watches the researchers talk to each other. She is trying to learn their language, what question are they trying to answer about the world?
She knows a little bit of the object level science going on, the basics at least. She knows a LOT about their feelings ABOUT their work. What ideas get them excited. She can see how sometimes the same idea, expressed to the head researcher, from different people, triggers different reactions. She can SEE the blindspots that the researcher can’t see in themselves.
Sometimes a researcher likes an idea because it’s true, and sometimes because they NEED it to be true, for their career - the emotionally attuned person in the room can tell the difference, AND can contribute to scientific breakthrough by looking at the world directly and telling them what she sees, translating it for them.
The scientists are searching for truth like this, and they are stuck in the middle of the maze:
The mystic can see the maze from the “top down”, can’t see the precise details the scientists want, but can give them the direction to get them unstuck.
